I first grew this large yellow lotus in a low container but the rapid growth in summer caused me to bring out my mum's old bathtub from the shed. Its eventual height was around five feet tall with an amazing bloom opening in slow motion. Represented are the three stages from bud to flower, then seedpod. The peltate leaves dip into the water yet repel the rain, causing brilliant glasslike bubbles to appear, then roll away. The rippling water was added from the lake at The Woods Campground.
