Oil on canvas (50”x40”) - The lush flowers at the height of spring in fabulous Italian Majolica vase are at center in this allegorical still life, set on the grounds of Rosecliff Mansion in Newport, RI. The timing is late June when the Newport Flower Show occurs, next to the ocean beating against the famous cliff walk, surrounding the back lawn. This was one of the filming sites of the 1974 film “The Great Gatsby” as its opulence is obvious, indoors and out! The Box turtle is reminiscent of the closeness to nature, in this majestic setting.
